About Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, famous for the massive Victoria Falls which when in full flood forms the world's largest curtain of falling water. Zimbabwe's largest wildlife sanctuary is Hwange National Park, home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations and many other species. Other excellent game viewing areas are Matusadona, Mana Pools and Zambezi National Parks. Other highlights include the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, the beautiful Lake Kariba and the Eastern Highlands.

Languages: English, Shona and Sindebele are all official but numerous minor tribal dialects are also spoken.

Religion: Christianity, Islam and indigenous beliefs

Land borders: Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia 

Climate:  Although located in the tropics, the climate is moderated by altitude and the inland position of the country. The hot and dry season is from August to October, and the rainy season from November to March. The best months to visit are April to May and August to September.

Money: US Dollar is the most widely accepted currency
 
Tipping: Tipping for good service is widely appreciated.

Formalities: British passport holders need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. You can get a visa from the Zimbabwean High Commission in London before you travel. Single and double entry visit visas are available at most ports of entry, but multi-entry visas are not. If you plan to get a visa on arrival, make sure you have the correct amount of cash with you as change may not be available.
