This very special safari combines the rugged wilderness of The Selous in the south of Tanzania along with a memorable stay on the exotic island of Zanzibar. On safari you can choose from two different properties, the tented Selous Luxury Camp located in the heart of the bush or the equally spectacular setting of Mivumo River Lodge set on the banks of the Rufiji River, with glorious views down to the plunging torrents of Stiegler's Gorge. 

Either lodge gives you the opportunity to experience this magical reserve, see its wildlife and amazing scenery. Finish your stay at the Zanzibar Serena Inn right in the heart of Stone Town.

Day 1 - Board your light aircraft at Dar Es Salaam for the 45 minute to Stiegler’s airstrip right in the heart of The Selous. On arrival you’ll meet up with your ranger and take the short drive to Selous Luxury Camp.  In the afternoon take your first game drive where you may be lucky enough to spot lion or elephant along with many other animals. In the evening, return to your camp for dinner overlooking a small waterhole and fall asleep to the sounds of the bush.

Day 2-3 - Spend two days enjoying the vast, pristine, largely undiscovered and spectacular Selous Game Reserve in open sided vehicles.  It is a World Heritage Site and the largest expanse of game reserve in Africa, covering 55,000 square kilometres of rolling savannah, lakes, rivers and deltas, four times the size of the Serengeti and larger than the entire nation of Switzerland it’s home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world.

Day 4 - After breakfast make your way to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to the historic Serena Inn.  Located in the heart of Stone Town it’s the perfect location for exploring the maze of narrow streets and soaking up the atmosphere.

Day 5 - This morning you have a guided tour of Stone Town which will bring the fascinating history of the island to life. You’ll visit the slave market and see sultan's palaces, Portuguese forts, ancient dhow harbours and bright bazaars as well as having time to browse the local shops and perhaps pick up a souvenir. 

Day 6 - It’s time to leave the spice island of Zanzibar as you head to the airport for your onward flight.
