KRUGER & THE PANORAMA ROUTE - FROM JOHANNESBURG

A fabulous mix of scenery and wildlife on a five day adventure from Johannesburg.

Day 1 - the Panorama Route (320 km)
Head out from the city sprawl of Johannesburg to the dry Lowveld region of Mpumalanga, literally 'place of the rising sun'. Once you leave the highway the scenery becomes more dramatic with high mountain passes and fertile valleys. There are some incredible views from your overnight accommodation at Long Tom Pass. Overnight at Misty Mountain.

Day 2 - Blyde River Canyon to Hazyview (70 km)
First stop today is the historic gold mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest, before starting the truly spectacular drive along the Blyde River Canyon, said to be the third largest in the world. Fascinating stops include God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondevals and impressive Lisbon Falls. Overnight at Hippo Hollow.
 
Day 3 - the Kruger National Park (95 km)
Cameras at the ready this morning as you enter the Kruger National Park for an overnight stay and two full days of game spotting. You'll be amazed at the variety of wildlife you'll see as you travel slowly around the Park. Look out for giraffe, zebra, antelope, lion, elephant, water buffalo, rhino and lots more. Overnight at Lower Sabi Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park.

Day 4 - Kruger to White River (110 km)
Continue your self drive safari through the Kruger, stopping as you please at viewing or picnic spots. The scenery, as well as the wildlife, is amazing. Exit the park to overnight near the pretty town of White River. Overnight at Casterbridge Hollow.

Day 5 - to Johannesburg (370 km)
The town of Nelspruit is worth exploring before heading back to Johannesburg. Centre of a major fruit growing region, it boasts an excellent botanical gardens and even a crocodile farm for an exciting end to your tour.
