ay 1 Pietermartizburg & Drakensberg
Depart the cosmopolitan city of Durban and travel inland through Pietermaritzburg, driving past the Legislative Building with its colonial heritage and the glorious St Peter's Cathedral. Continue through the picturesque Midlands - a beautiful region filled with farmland, charming little towns and a wonderful arts and crafts scene. At Howick vist the site where Nelson Mandela was captured in 1962 which marked the beginning of his 27 year imprisonment. On arrival at your hotel, enjoy some free time before dinner.

Day 2 Drakensberg 
Today, enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Drakensberg mountains, as well as discovering the cultural significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site - the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. At Giant's Castle, enjoy a 45-minute walk to the caves for a short tour of the paintings and artefacts on display in the museum. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities which include tennis courts, an animal farm, aviary, hiking trails and swimming pool.

Day 3 Spionkop, Dundee & Isandlwana
Enjoy a delicious breakfast before making your way to the summit of Spionkop Mountain. Your guide will bring to life the Anglo-Boer nine day battle that took place in January 1900 - the bloodiest attempt by the British to relieve Ladysmith.  Witnesses to this battle included Winston Churchill and Mohandas Ghandi.

Continue to the town of Ladysmith, made world famous by a siege that lasted for 118 days, where you will visit the Seige Museum with its variety of artefacts on display. Travel via Dundee to your lodge which is located close to the battle sites to enjoy dinner.

Overnight Rorke's Drift Hotel 

Day 4 Isandlwana, Rorke's Drift & Fugitive's Drift
Today is dedicated to the exploration of the famous battlefields where your guide will recount the battle of Isandlwana where 20,000 Zulu warriors wiped out almost an entire British regiment within a few hours. Continue to Fugitive's Drift where the graves of Lieutenants Nevill Coghill, Teignmouth Melvill and others lie on the hillside overlooking the Buffalo River. Visit Rorke's Drift where British soldiers, outnumbered 35 to 1, fought off 4,000 Zulus and earned 11 Victoria Crosses. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Battlefields & Falaza Game Reserve 
After an early breakfast, travel across the battlefield region to Hluhluwe where you begin an exciting safari experience. On arrival at your lodge this afternoon, head out for a game drive with an expert ranger who has a wide knowledge of the rich bird and animal life of the region. Return to the lodge to freshen up before dinner.

Overnight Falaza Game Lodge 

Day 6 Falaza Game Reserve 
Start the day with an early morning game drive when the animals are at their most active, before returning to the lodge for breakfast. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the facilities on offer - perhaps relax with a treatment at the spa. End the day with a further afternoon game drive.

Overnight Falaza Game Lodge 

Day 7 Hluhluwe to Durban 
Enjoy a final game drive before travelling via the Elephant coast back to Durban to your city hotel or the airport. If time permits, there will be an option for an estuarine boat trip at St Lucia.
