Elephant House - Addo

Elephant House is set in glorious countryside approximately 45 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth and close to Addo National Park and the Sundays River Valley. It’s a delightful colonial style lodge offering good quality accommodation in a malaria free environment.

Choose to head out on game drives with a ranger or explore the national park from the comfort of your own rental vehicle. There are two swimming pools, library and lounge as well as a dining room and DVD library.

Kariega Game Reserve

This malaria-free "Big-5" private game reserve is set in 9000 hectares of pristine African wilderness incorporating the picturesque Kariega and Bushman’s Rivers, just 10 minutes from Kenton-on-sea and 80 minutes from Port Elizabeth. Situated in the heart of 1820 Settler Country, the reserve is a natural extension to a trip along South Africa’s famous Garden Route.

Morning and evening game drives with experienced rangers give guests the opportunity of game viewing from open vehicles and Kariega is also unique in its offering of a diverse range of activities, which include: safe walking close to abundant game and birdlife, river cruises, canoeing, mountain biking, a spa and gym and visits to the nearby golden beaches of Kenton-on-Sea.

Accommodation

Main Lodge is ideal for families, friends and couples alike and offers a relaxed environment to enjoy the African bush. All the chalets are air conditioned and have large private viewing decks. Ukhozi Lodge truly captures the romance of Africa, with a small number of suites each with private plunge pool it has fantastic panoramic views over the valley.

Leeuwenbosch Country House - Amakhala

Leeuwenbosch Country House was originally built in 1908 and still retains much of its historic charm. Now part of the Amakhala Game Reserve, it sits in pretty gardens and makes an ideal base for families or couples. In between game drives there’s a lounge to relax in or take a dip in the swimming pool. In the evening dine around the fire and relive the adventures of the day.

Accommodation – The attractive and spacious suites are decorated in period style.

The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and a choice of 2 game activities per day.  Game activities include:

Kuzuko Game Reserve - Addo

The reserve sits in its own extensive grounds adjacent to Addo National Park. This relatively new addition to the Eastern Cape offers excellent game viewing and a high standard of accommodation. Leisure facilities include a restaurant, bar, lounge and swimming pool. The lodge sits on the edge of small Karoo and has breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside.

Accommodation – Kuzuko Lodge rooms are spacious and attractively furnished with television, air conditioning, telephone, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, bathroom with bath, shower. All the rooms have a deck with views of the mountains.

Safari Lodge - Amakhala

Safari Lodge on the Amakhala Game Reserve is tucked away in the bush and is built in the style of a traditional African village. It is ideal for couples and older families (children under 9 not accepted) who want an authentic bush experience. The lodge has its own swimming pool and there is also a lounge and restaurant.

Accommodation – Rooms are air conditioned and have fantastic private outdoor showers, beds draped with mosquito nets and the fabulous double baths really give you a touch of African luxury.

Shamwari Game Reserve

Probably the best known and certainly the largest game reserve on the Eastern Cape. About an hour from Port Elizabeth, Shamwari has been at the forefront of conservation in the region for many years and offers its guests a quite unique experience.

Fantastic ranger/guides will really help you to understand the cycle of life in the bush and small groups on game drives makes for a more personal experience. For your free time you will find a lounge, dining room, two swimming pools, bar and barn with open fireplace to add a touch of luxury to your big game adventure.

Accommodation – Long Lee Manor is a beautifully restored house which takes you back to the colonial days, the rooms are all air conditioned and have television, private bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities. Note: Children under 12 not permitted.
