The Royal Country Inn – Battlefields

Situated in the quaint little town of Dundee which is approximately halfway between Johannesburg and Durban and approximately 45 minutes drive from the KwaZulu-Natal battlefields.

The Inn offers a distinct old world charm, the walls of the lounge are covered with interesting memorabilia. After a day sightseeing relax with a home cooked dinner and a few drinks in the famous Garrulous Griffin Pub which is dedicated to the 24th Welsh Regiment, who fought valiantly at the battle of Rorke’s Drift.

Accommodation - The comfortable rooms all have television, tea and coffee making facilities and some are named after recipients of the Victoria Cross at the battle of Rorke’s Drift. The downstairs rooms have beautifully preserved pressed iron ceilings and they open out onto the garden courtyard, while the upstairs rooms have little balconies overlooking the surrounding area.
