Tournament of Hope offers new golf appeal for South Africa holidays

February 14th, 2012

Golf fans already have plenty of reasons to go on South Africa holidays, with the country offering plenty of first-class courses and facilities.

But now there is another excuse to pack the clubs and jet off to South Africa, as it has been revealed the country is to play host to the very first Tournament of Hope next year.

While the richest tournament in golf, with a purse of £5.4 million, is not for casual golfers to take part in, it could be the perfect focus for a fortnight's holiday taking in a few rounds on the country's other great courses.

The world's top players are expected to take part in the event, which is organised by the International Federation of PGA Tours.

It will be the sixth elite tournament sanctioned by the tours, after the four WGC events and the World Cup team competition.

Scheduled for November 28th to December 1st 2013, the event could be a great chance to glimpse the likes of Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and local stars including Ernie Els and Retief Goosen.
