With over 200 miles of coastline you certainly won't be short of choice when it comes to your beach stay. In the north the vibrant area around Grand Baie is famous for watersports, deep sea fishing and sailing by day whilst by night you can head out to enjoy local restaurants and bars.
The west coast is ideal for families with a good choice of hotels and facilities around Flic en Flac, calm water and sweeping sandy beaches. The east is popular with watersports enthusiasts who enjoy the breezy, sandy beaches and top class hotels. The quieter south coast has dramatic scenery and is the perfect location for a real get away from it all holiday.
The capital Port Louis lies in the north-west of the island and has a bustling waterfront offering plenty of restaurants and bars. You'll also find a thriving Chinatown, Central Market and even a racecourse, which operates between May and November. This island's population is an interesting melting pot of cultures with a mix of Indian, Chinese and Creole, all reflected in the cuisine.
